Last night, about 30 minutes after we put Ryan to bed, we heard him banging around in his room. Mark went upstairs to check on him. As Mark got about halfway up the stairs, he saw Ryan's light go out, and when he got in the room Ryan was running to his bed. He told DH that Trindel (what he calls his stuffed Humpty Dumpty and also his future daughter...) kept getting out of bed, so he had to get up and turn on the light to bring her back to bed! ;-)
Tonight he built what looked like a long wall out of Lego blocks. I told him it was a nice wall, and he said it wasn't a wall, it was a frog house where all the frogs lived. I told him it must get really noisy in there with all the frogs croaking. Then we had this conversation: Ryan: Sometimes people stop the frogs down so it won't get too noisy. Mom: They stop the frogs down? Ryan: Yes. Mom: How do they do that? Ryan: They just use their stopping words, like "Stop, froggy, stop!" At 14 months & 1 week old, Kyle is finally choosing to walk more. He took his first steps 5 weeks ago, but until this week he would just take a few steps here or there, and still preferred to crawl or cruise most of the time. Last night he walked his longest distance ever, down much of the length of the kitchen, and later walked back. This afternoon after his nap, he walked (or rather, toddled!) from the middle of his room out onto the landing and to the staircase, which took him probably 20 or 25 steps. He is still crawling a lot, but I'm guessing he'll be a full-fledged walker any day now! Ryan took 5.5 weeks from his first steps to using walking as his primary means of getting around, so it looks like Kyle is doing about the same. It's so cute to see him learning to walk! He also has quite a few words now. He calls Ryan "Yiyi" or "Yaya," and for some reason he also does a cute waving motion with his hand when he says it. He loves hugging things, including the baby on his cereal box, and is growing attached to the Humpty Dumpty toy ("Duh" or "Dup") he sleeps with. Sometimes he doesn't stop hugging it for several minutes after getting out of his crib!
