This evening Ryan (now 3 yrs, 5 mos old) stood on a chair, and using a sippy cup as a microphone, said, "Attention everyone! My tuba is broken and they are fixing it at the car shop!" We have no idea where he got this idea, but it was pretty funny!
He also told me something today about a boy who had a dog named Ganella or something like that--after further questioning it appears it was about a dream he had during his nap. That's the first time he has ever told us about something he dreamed. Other than that it was kind of a crazy day. It was rainy & cold so we (Mom & kids) stayed home all day, and both kids were acting up. Ryan painted the table with applesauce, and Kyle bit me 3 times! I hope he does not become a regular biter!! Kyle still wants to be carried much of the time, too. At least we did have a little fun in the very late afternoon, playing with a Nerf ball. Ryan wouldn't really eat any lunch, but Kyle, who only likes eating yogurt for the most part, ate 3 YoBaby yogurts mixed with rice cereal in less than 3 hours! He gets excited when he sees it and says something like "yogo" or "gogo." He also says something like "poo" for spoon now, and "buh-ee" for bunny. Words he has had longer include "juice" for milk, yogurt, or nursing, "baba" for breakfast bars, "tree," and sometimes "dada" and "mama." He turned 1 on January 14th, and still hasn't taken a single unassisted step, though he has to be as close to walking as a person can be without actually doing it! He's a very fast cruiser, walks easily behind push toys, climbs all over things including climbing up the stairs fast, and can stand without holding onto anything for quite a while. He just won't take a step! Lately he really likes this video called Baby Songs (really a favorite of both kids), and he will wiggle his toes during the "Piggy Toes" song and try to whisper during the song "Shout & Whisper." It is so cute! Sometimes he also tries to put a phone to his ear and make noises that sound vaguely like "hello," and when he hears the word "frog," he opens & closes his mouth in the cutest way to imitate a frog (something I taught him months ago). He gets very excited and starts slapping his head whenever he sees a hat, and still loves music and "dances" all the time. One of his favorite things to do in the world is play give & take--where he just hands us something and then waits for us to hand it back. He can do this for way longer than Mom & Dad like to! ;-) Favorite toys right now are his Ball Blast, his Activity Rocker (he's a maniac on it, jumping up & down), his Push & Ride toy, and toy cars. He also likes balls a lot, and says "ba" for balls. He's getting somewhat fond of a baby doll we have called Baby Kevin, which we're not sure if we want to encourage or not! And of course he loves any musical toy. Ryan has been singing a lot lately, and has been into Veggie Tales videos also, though this week he's on more of a Dora the Explorer kick. He is still partial to Lego blocks, and enjoys his Playhut Bob the Builder bulldozer a lot. The past couple of days he's been carrying around a punch ball attached to a toy fishing pole and telling us it is a wrecking ball! He's also far into the why stage now...sometimes more like "whyny"! He does ask some interesting questions, though, such as, "How many houses are in America?", "How do you make a couch?", and "What do giraffes drink?" He can now sight-read quite a few words. He has been able to read (and spell) Ryan and Kyle for a long time, but now can read some other words such as baby, off, dog, EXIT, Clifford, Nana, and MEN (a sign he's seen a lot in public!). The other day he really surprised us by asking, "Why does that sign say one?" It was a ONE WAY sign. We knew he knew the number 1, but had no idea he knew how to read it when it was spelled out! Back in November, I wrote down some funny things he said at the time. At one point, after washing his hands on a visit to Nana's house, he started shaking his hands so that water went everywhere. I asked what he was doing and he said, "I'm putting water on the ground so my monkey can swim." Hmmm! Another time he said, "Some cuppies are taking a bath in the dishwasher." Also, he's getting to the stage where we have to be careful what we say because he will repeat us! Just today, I heard him say, "I have a lot of work to do!" and the other day when he was trying to do something with a toy and it wasn't working, he said, "I can't deal with it right now!" Gee, wonder where he heard that?!
